LOCATION

The WISH Woodley Park center is located two blocks from the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan Metro and two blocks from Rock Creek Park and the National Zoo. The Circulator shuttle bus runs between the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan Metro stop to the heart of historic Adams Morgan and U Street neighborhoods, as well as Georgetown. On the red-line, the Woodley Park Metro station is one stop from Dupont Circle, three stops from downtown Washington, DC and the White House, and six stops from Capitol Hill.

HISTORY

The historic Woodley Park neighborhood of Washington, DC has been home to Presidents Hoover, Johnson, and Eisenhower; Supreme Court Justices Warren, Black, Clark, Jackson and Vinson; Members of Congress, military leaders, government workers and journalists. The leafy residential community established in the 1890’s has become a growing center for commercial, business and tourist institutions.

Early 20th century row houses on Connecticut Avenue are now used as restaurants, offices and shops that serve residents and cater to throngs of visitors to the Zoo, the Washington National Cathedral, and Rock Creek Park. Nearby hotels include the Omni Shoreham Hotel on Calvert Street and the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel on Woodley Road. Close to Embassy Row, the amazing back streets of the neighborhood are also lined with embassies and the private residences of ambassadors and the vast diplomatic corps that lives and works throughout the capital city.
